National Ride2School Day

Many students around the Wheatbelt have jumped on their bikes to travel to school this week, as part of National Ride 2 School Day.

How about making this a regular for your family rather than a once a year thing? It’s a great activity to do as a family. Parents can walk or ride with your children.

For students that live on a farm, how about riding to the bus stop instead of getting mum or dad to drive?

Reasons to keep riding and walking to school:

  • Students feel fresh and alert at the beginning of a school day (they get to burn off some energy before sitting down in the classroom).
  • There are fewer cars around the school meaning drop off time is safer.
  • Students are more likely to get at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day.
  • Students feel happier, healthier and perform better in the classroom.
